ACHARAI: The Shoshana S. Cardin Leadership Development Institute Fellows Program Application Instructions:
Before completing the application below, please read the ACHARAI brochure, review the program dates and deadlines and note the following:
- We expect that over 30 qualified candidates will apply for admission to the program, of which a class of 15-20 will be admitted. This is a competitive program with a goal of diversity of the class from a broad spectrum of Greater Baltimore’s 150 Jewish organizations. There is a selection process.
- Candidates must be in line for the top volunteer leadership position of a Jewish organization within five years.
- Those candidates admitted must be prepared to participate fully in the program with positive attitude and have an understanding of, and disposition toward, the intensive and academic nature of the program.
- Participation at all sessions is crucial to the success of the program and the participant’s successful leadership development. Regular attendance at the threeretreats and 10 sessions is required for selection and continued participation in the program. This year the program will commence in April 2012 and end with a celebratory siyyum, or completion ceremony, in May 2013.
- The program fee of $600 may be shared between the nominee and the nominating organization. The program fee should not be an obstacle for participation.
- Participants must have access to e-mail.
A complete application will include the following:
- Nomination form
- Participant application form
- A letter of support from your organization’s top volunteer
- A letter of support from your organization’s top professional or rabbi (a letter of support from two volunteer leaders is acceptable in some cases)

The Selection Process:
- A selection committee will confidentially evaluate applications and select the class.
- January 9-20, 2012: Applicants will be contacted to schedule interviews
- January 30-February 10, 2012: Interviews will be held
- February 28, 2012: Indivuduals will be notified by mail
