Curriculum Outline
The ACHARAI Curriculum includes topics, such as:
- Know Thyself: Explore personal leadership styles through rabbinic texts and a current personality assessment.
- The Art of Managing: Identify the nature of leadership, appropriate use of authority, and modeling Gideon, who knew when to lead by not leading.
- The Inner Workings of Non-Profit Organizations: Examine the structure of the non-profit organization and the complex interactions that faced past leadership as exemplified by King David’s anointing of his son, Solomon.
- A Shift of Mind: Managing Relationships: Compare the organization to other systems—families, businesses, communities—and the implication on interpersonal interactions, both with staff and other volunteers.
- Vision-Driven Planning: Learn to create a focused vision as a foundation for strategic planning.
- Ten Basic Rules for a Productive Meeting: Discover how to plan and run a meeting to ensure successful results.
- Decision-Making Models: Develop efficient, values-based decision making processes.
- The Effective Mentor: Study the art of mentoring to ensure the success of others and the organization.
- Setting the Stage: Create an environment in which strong leaders emerge and excellent volunteers flourish, as demonstrated by Jethro’s interactions with Moses.
- Transforming Difficult People into Allies: Address potential personality-related roadblocks to circumnavigate disruptive conflicts.
- Succession Planning: Recognize the various life-cycles of your organization, and learn how to manage the transition between stages as Joshua did when succeeding Moses as Israel’s leader.
- Organizational Leader as Community Leader: Collaborate with other Jewish communal organizations for the benefit of the entire community and your own organization.
